How to ask your PDF

  1. Upload one PDF up to 10 MiB and 30 pages. It needs about 500 readable characters for useful answers.
  2. Wait while the document is parsed. Up to five scanned pages can use OCR; some pages may remain unreadable.
  3. Ask a question, then open each page citation to check the source passage.
  4. Delete the PDF and chat when you are done.

Check answers against their sources

Answers use passages from your uploaded document. Each citation shows a page and a short excerpt so you can inspect the claim in context. A cited page can still be misread; review the original PDF before using an answer.

Some scanned or mixed PDFs may be only partly readable. The tool identifies unreadable pages where it can. If the document has too little readable text, upload a clearer or text-based copy.

Frequently asked questions

How many questions can I ask?

You can receive three successful answers per day. Uploads, requests, and processing also have shared safety limits.

Can it read a scanned PDF?

Up to five scanned pages can use OCR. Quality varies, and some pages may remain unreadable. The page shows any known coverage warning.

Are my documents private?

Only this temporary session can access its PDF and chat. Delete revokes access immediately. Access also expires within 24 hours, after which stored copies are removed by the cleanup process. PDF content may pass through parser, OCR, and answer providers.

Does it search the web or OpenAlex?

No. Answers are based on your uploaded PDF. It does not search for other papers or verify claims against the web.

Can I upload a very short PDF?

The parser needs about 500 readable characters. Image-only or unusually short files may not provide enough text for a reliable answer.

What happens if an answer lacks citations?

Treat it as unverified. Open the PDF and confirm any claim yourself before using it in research or writing.
