The literature review feature is centerpiece to AnswerThis and its ability to assist researchers and academics, so today we wanted to briefly go through how you can make the most of our tool and your time.
AnswerThis by default opens with the “Ask AnswerThis” feature. This is the staging ground for creating or improving your literature review rough drafts. The key here is the prompt helper, a simple tool that helps decide how to format your question or topic to be generated and the search bar.
Filters
Once a question is entered on the topic you desire, AnswerThis will provide a sidebar of filters to finetune your experience. Let’s break down each category:
Minimum Citations allow a selection on the minimum citations that AnswerThis would look for to include in the paper. Note that due to the vastness of our databases oftentimes you will be provided with a wide breadth of sources beyond the minimum along with recommendations of adjacent papers.
Turbo Mode is one of our newest feature and is still in “beta.” We are experimenting with new ways for AnswerThis to process information so that literature review drafts can be produced considerably faster!
Databases are one of our biggest pride. We take pride in offering incredibly customizable database access for researchers. For research papers, by clicking the cog you may choose between five different databases, then select if web search should be included, and if other sources like patents and your library should be searched. Everything is customizable to allow for the broadest or most specific data sources.
Following this, you may augment the timeline of when the papers are published, both in the earliest or latest date
Lastly, if you seek to create an almost full literature review, changing the “Output Type” utilizes our proprietary technology to generate a long form draft with additional content while continuing to maintain the overall quality that researchers expect from AnswerThis.
Literature Review
Once you've tailored your filters, AnswerThis generates your literature review. The output consists of two main sections: “Answer,” which includes the literature review content, and “Sources,” the source table with detailed citations.
Based on the selected settings, AnswerThis produces either a brief 1-2 page summary or a comprehensive 8-page+ review on the chosen topic. Built on a foundation of rigorous sourcing, AnswerThis ensures that all provided information is reliable and traceable. Additionally, every citation is organized and accessible in the concluding section of the paper, ensuring transparency and academic integrity.
The source table offers customizable insights on each source, including relevant excerpts, summaries, and insights related to your question. For each source, you can view citation counts, publication dates, and links to the original work. With the Extract Data feature, users can generate additional insights or even interact with the full content of papers (if PDFs are available). Options to select citation styles and save sources to a personal library make it easy to maximize the value of each literature review.
